I love to enjoy smoothies every single day, so I’m always trying to come up with something new and unique to try. But the truth is that I tend to end up enjoying the simplest of smoothies more often than when I try to get fancy with my creations.
I do enjoy the more complex recipes sometimes, but the simple ones are my daily go-to options. Today I’d like to share an easy smoothie recipe that will perk your taste buds up and keep you energized throughout the day. This is one of those smoothies that kicks butt in the flavor and texture department but requires only a handful of ingredients to make.
I add citrus to my smoothies often because all the vitamin C it provides helps to keep my hair and nails healthy. The smoothie recipe I am sharing with you today happens to pack a big punch of vitamin C, among a myriad of other phytonutrients. It’s easy to put together, and it tastes heavenly. Give it a try!
Here is what you’ll need for each serving you want to make:
- 2 or more bananas
- 1 cup chopped spinach
- 2 cups fresh orange juice
- ½ cup fresh (or frozen) strawberries
- ½ cup ice cubes (optional)
Start by blending the spinach and orange juice on high until the greens break down. Add the rest of the ingredients and blend again until everything is smooth and creamy. Throw a couple of strawberries on top for good measure and for something to chew on.
You can make this a richer smoothie by replacing ½ cup of the orange juice with coconut milk or simply adding a small handful of fresh coconut meat into the mix. You can also make this a frozen treat by putting it into a sealable container after blending it and letting it freeze overnight.
For a richer flavor, try adding cinnamon to the mix when blending!
